Should I Patch or Plug a Tire that has a hole in it?

Here at Nissan of LaGrange we are often asked if we will patch or plug a tire for a customer that has a puncture. In the interest of our customer’s safety we have decided that it is much safer to replace the tire instead of a temporary option like patching or pluging a tire.

According the the  Tire Industry Association’s website

“A plug by itself or a patch by itself is not an acceptable repair because the plug does not permanently seal the innerliner and the patch does not fill the void left by the penetrating object, which allows water to enter the body of the tire and starting corroding the steel belts.”

So next time you have a hole in your tire do the safe thing and have it replaced, and when you need your tire replaced bring it to Nissan of LaGrange. We offer the tires that came on your Nissan (or any other manufacturer) from the factory at a great price. Plus, We may be able to offer some other tire options that may save you even more $$$. So, Drive safe and get that tire replaced.
